Federal Law and Fire Extinguisher Training
CFR (Code of Federal Regulations)
Title 29, Part 1910 (OSHA)
Section 157 Paragraphs g.1& 2
“Where the employer has provided portable fire extinguishers for employee use in the workplace, the employer shall also provide an educational program to familiarize employees with the general principles of fire extinguisher use and the hazards involved with the incipient stage fire fighting.”
“The employer shall provide the education required…upon initial employment and at least annually thereafter.”
OSHA and federal regulations require employers to provide fire extinguisher training for their employees. Druid Fire Equipment Company can supply this training for industries and institutions. Druid Fire’s trained staff will teach your employees how to recognize a specific type of fire and the proper use of extinguishers to maximize safety for your people and your company.
Druid Fire’s training sessions are held indoors. We will train your employees how to manage a fire using the PASS (pull, aim squeeze, sweep) technique, and team firefighting. We will also discuss the efficiency of various types of fire extinguishers, and the realization of discharge times and range, as well as answer any questions the students might have. This training will give your employees greater confidence in their abilities to handle an emergency, and they will be able to handle a portable fire extinguisher with twice the efficiency of someone who is not trained. Company losses from fire (property damages, production downtime, loss of valuable materials) can also be reduced with proper fire extinguisher use. According to the National Association of Fire Equipment Distributors (NAFED), around 94% of commercial fires are put out using portable fire extinguishers.
Druid Fire will work with your company’s schedule to present this training at a time that is convenient for you. Our hands-on fire training will be given via the Ansul Fire Simulator.
The Ansul Fire Simulator allows for safe, clean, indoor fire and safety training. These realistic situations are an easy way to meet OSHA annual training requirements.
The Ansul Fire Simulator is a computer-based training tool that features authentic scenarios. The simulation uses state-of-the-art computer software to create a liquid fire situation, such as a flammable liquid spill. Using a hand-held fire extinguisher pressurized with compressed air, the students will be able to experience fighting a real fire. The fire is programmed to reflash if the proper technique is not used. This program is safe, with no heat or actual flames to cause injury or damage. It has zero environmental impact, so there are no fuels or extinguishing agents to clean up, and requires no burn permit. It is also versatile and can be set up in almost any conference room, and is weatherproof, because of its indoor location. The Ansul Fire School has proven this system to be effective for both first time training and as a review for those already trained in incipient stage fire fighting.
Druid Fire Equipment Company will provide all the necessary tools and hardware to run the simulator. Upon successful completion of the course, a Certificate of Completion will be presented to each student.
